If you're not able to access facebook, and you're wondering if the problem is on your end or theirs: it's on theirs.

Thanks Frank. I thought I may have posted something that Mr Z didn’t approve of. 😂

Yep... received an email from Bob Lefsetz; disregarded it at first, something about a whistle-blower on FB... went back and checked it out, watched the 60 Minutes segment on the woman doing the whistleblowing.

Really nothing I didn't already know/sense. Glad it's finally in the open. I hope FB can "correct the course" they've been heading.

It's a good thing to connect folks with others... not so good to use that connection to manipulate and scam people into a particular way of being/thinking...

I've found that if I question and think for myself, I'm gonna be just fine...

I appreciate the connections that site has let me maintain much more easily than I'd have been able to otherwise, but I still see it as an overwhelmingly negative force in society. So I'll join the other Ray and say PLEASE let it stay down. Thought it was kind of interesting it went down the day after that 60 Minutes piece last night. KNOWING (always suspected as much) they adjust their algorithms to feed people divisive stuff they know makes them angry because anger keeps them coming back for more, spending more time on FB and driving ad revenues - well, it there was a legal way to do it, I think they should be shut down. Probably wouldn't matter - someone else would move in to fill that hole - can't get that toothpaste back in the tube.

I'm a terrible customer - I go on FB about once or twice a week for 10-15 minutes to check up on friends and some relatives. I don't post much and I don't stay around long enough to make them much money.

+1, though because I'm deeply involved in bay area tech, this has been obvious for a long time and is why I left the platform a few years ago. It's the most powerful disinformation amplification machine in human history, and in my view, and the view of many, it has profound negative impact on the world. I was a fan at one time, but it changed some years ago.

I know a lot of current and former employees, and know a recruiter who works with their former employees a lot. They pay really, really well...because they have to. The overwhelming feeling from folks leaving there is that they sold out for the money, and for various reasons did not feel good about their time there. This is in pretty stark contrast to reasons for leaving other large tech companies in the area. Her view is that having Facebook on one's resume has surprisingly limited value in the marketplace. One recruiter's view only though. I'm sure there are other sides to that story.
