Beautiful work! With frets in the slots, you can see the fan of the frets up the fretboard. This is coming along nicely.

He trusted me to use the his professional camera.

I'm sure glad it has an automatic mode

It sure is enjoyable to be able to just hang out and watch a craftsman at work.

Now that he actually has the shop almost set up the pictures of production should be coming on a more regular basis.

I saw a few boxes closed up and he was working on jigs that will increase his ability to produce and I just had a good ole time with a very fine gentleman.

That sounds like a great time! I had the pleasure of watching him work when I visited his shop last February. It's a treat.

Woah... I know this is a little late... but from the last picture of the lot there, are the frets fanned? As in, they are slanted?

Here's a little more progress...

Because of the high tension the soundboard will be under I decided to use carbon fiber in the bracings. Still the same thickness but a lot stiffer.

Adirondack spruce and carbon fiber pieces

I then cut the braces so I can laminate the carbon fiber

here they are glued up

and now cleaned up and at final thickness

Thanks for looking!

Wouldn't that have a HUGE effect on how they bend when the soundboard vibrates? Seems to me that a carbon fiber laminate would change the characteristics of an Adi brace by factor 100. Maybe a naive view?
