My arsenal of cameras and equipment has been developing for many years! I have several backdrops, direct and indirect lighting with several light spectrums, and a series ever more outdated cameras, the latest being a Sony A6300 with multiple lenses. But in the end, if this is the end, I am perfectly happy with the results I get using my iPhone 11 on a sunny day in my own backyard. I feel that my photos communicate, and the guitars themselves are far more about how they feel, play, and sound than how they look. In this world of internet marketing, I am probably naive, but so far, so good.

"Dread Lightly" has gone into finish. I used the "P" stain and a couple of coats of dark pore filler to bring the appearance in the direction of the Mahogany that style 18's are expected to have. This is the first coat of oil varnish:

The P stain worked its magic yet again! Looks fantastic under finish!

Yesterday I completed the neck for "Dread Lightly", and I am ready for a new project. Here is the headstock with its first varnish. The logo is from the mystery tonewood, but w/o stain.

Looks like the varnish has cured and Bruce has been working on my FT-16 this week. I’ll post a series of pictures that shows the buffed finish, some assembly, inlay, and fretwork. I will try not to embarrass Bruce, but he has provided me with an experience that far exceeds what I deserve. He is an absolute joy. I have appreciated his willingness to share, explain and tolerate a curious mind. The quality of work and customer service can’t be beat.

Paul, I can’t say I’m surprised! So glad it’s been a good experience for you. That is going to be a heckuva guitar!

Today Peghead Nation released a video featuring my Couch Noodler, an interview with myself, and a duet with Teja and Doug Young where Teja plays the JB-CN and Doug plays my Olivewood L00.
https://youtu.be/jhqyG_v-UD4 Perhaps someone cleverer than I can imbed it. I've tried several things that don't work. |
