Default Guitars = Cars Tread

Ok...I know it...goofy tread but so what. So lets get some conversation bout our guitars n' cars. In other words, I have a Gibson J45 and most likely see it as a Ford F150....dirt roads with a bit o rust. I owned a Martin D28 and would say....Cadillac, most fun to drive, not off road though. My first real guitar was a Yamaha....yep, Corolla..affordable, dependable and the driver makes the difference.

I will play!

My 37 Gibson L-0 = restored 37 Ford coupe.

My Lowdens = Ferraris, various ages.

Cargill Custom 00 deep body Ebony/Italian spruce = BMW 1 series coupe (I really was going to say 1 series convertible but the top doesn’t lower.)

My 3 Maton 808s = (Australian) Holden V8s various age/spec.

And my new Taylor 717e BE just has to be a ........ : Tesla 3.

What will my National Tricone be?

Curiously, my Mark Angus F-40 (1979) is remarkably similar to my automobile - a fairly cherry, low-mileage Acura Integra GS...

A LOT of fun to drive, reliable, starts every time, enough knocks and dings that there's no worry about little stuff... goes good and stops when you want, handles like a dream on an open road... gets a little snarky in stop-n-go traffic!

My Mark Angus F-40 12 string (1983) is more like... maybe one of the smaller Hummers; no lightweight darling, sturdy, strong and you'd better have both hands on the wheel or she'll buck ya! Point her and she'll go through anything to get there, so long as your hands are strong...

Don't have a good enough read on my Goodall Grand Concert, yet, to do justice to the thread... we've only been 'part-time' for 8 years now... still courting and sparking, finding out "what's what"...

When it comes to my Wingert E, I would say it is like a luxury SUV that gets great mileage. It’s got a comfortable ride and takes corners really well. Excellent on back country roads but gets a nice double take look from the valet when pulling up at the opera house. [emoji41]

My Kramer Prairie Grass is more like a brand new pick up truck. It’s as tough as a Dodge Ram, as cool as a Ford Raptor with the sleek look of a Honda Ridgeline. Equally at home on the ranch or on the highway. And the engine just sings!

Best,
Jayne

I’ve used the car analogy to try to get people to understand Martin’s Modern Deluxe Series. It is a factory option package available for the Standard Series. So my MD is a Camaro ZL1–internal and external modifications resulting in demonstrably higher performance. It’s just that some people don’t like forced induction and stiff suspensions. And that’s fine, nothing wrong with the Standard SS.

I liken my little guitars to American made Porches. Sweet!

I would say my Lowden was more of an Aston Martin. A bit more class and not so much 'in yer face'.
