Medium Gauge Strings on your Rainsong?
Has anyone switched their RS to medium gauge strings? If so, what changes did you notice in tone, and did you have to do anything to adjust the neck relief/action?
Thanks. |

I use light/mediums on my rainsong shorty. This is mediums on the bottom 3 strings and lights on the top 3. I find that the guitar works a bit better with dropped tunings in this setup. Tone is similar. Maybe a bit more bass. I like the feel better then straights lights. (A little tighter in the bass)

My last 2 sets have been Medium. I am currently using the EJ 19Daddario Bluegrass Phosphor which give my a deeper low end without sacrificing the sustain we're use to with Carbon Guitars. The tremble strings are the same gauges as are typically accoiated with Light gauge strings. String Gauges: Plain Steel .012, .016, Phosphor Bronze Wound .025, .035, .045, .056 I'll be trying the EJ14 next which are the same gauges as the 19 only in traditional bronze rather than Phosphor. I like the balance with Mediums. And; I did adjust the neck just a little for these strings.
