One thing I will say: the sound created by rolling WAY back on the tone control of the bridge pickup of an SG is quite a bit different from the sound created by doing the same to a Les Paul. I regularly roll back the tone on LPs and ES-335s to tame the overtones and make them switch well with the neck pickups. However, when you roll back the treble on an SG bridge pickup and push into a distorted amp there is a really interesting, round, wooly sound available that I don't readily get with the other two types.
