Geez, you guys are brutal. So much for the nicest place on the internet......

Sannukene,

You mentioned two very different guitars in your examples, so I take it you are open to any suggestions on some guitars that meet your esthetic parameters?

Have you considered Ovation guitars at all? They have many different model lines at many different price points. They also come in a slew of colors and I know you'll find something that will catch your eye if it is a bold colorful look you are aiming for. They are also kind of in between your two examples you provided.. Ovation guitars have the composite material for the back and wood for the top. The backs come in different shapes, but all are rounded in some form or another. If you are interested, try to find some locally to try, as some people don't like the way they sit in ones lap. They have cut-aways, have on-board electronics and play very nicely.

Ovation's website:
http://www.ovationguitars.com/

I'm guessing you are from the UK, so I looked for something over there for prices, look like you can get a Standard Elite version or above and still below your budget:
http://www.richtonemusic.co.uk/guita...rs/ovation.asp
https://www.gak.co.uk/en/ovation

Here is a nice white Standard Elite :

Here is a nice red Custom Elite:

Everyone has the right to decide for themselves what features are important in making a guitar purchase. If looks takes priority, well its his money and his business. Having said that, this guitar was referenced in a thread earlier today..

I bought this for my 'at work' guitar and it plays just fine and most definitely has the look.

I look forward to a well-thought out NGD from you in the future hopefully based on investigation and a decision based on quality of sound, build and some looks thrown in for good measure - not as the primary objective.
I think that there is room at the AGF for people who put looks ahead of tone.

You couldn't have possibly missed that I was the only one to actually "welcome" the OP. Could you?

+1.

Do we really have to jump on the guy like that? It's one thing to state that his question doesn't mention tone, or to ask clarifying questions. Of course tone and playability matter to him. Let's not dump on him for caring about looks. It matters, too. How many threads on here are hyper-focused on superficial aspects of guitars?

All that said, I second the point about Ovations. To the original poster, WELCOME! Ovations are definitely eye-catching and will stand out from the crowd. Art and Lutherie has some new finishes, too, that you might find interesting. http://www.artandlutherieguitars.com/legacy-cw-1

A great deal on a used Taylor 522ce. 1000 euro would be a great deal. Cool looking guitar.

Welcome to the Forum San. Good luck finding your new guitar. I figured I would ask Google for an opinion and this was a "cool" recommendation that came up. Not sure it is what you are looking for however

Not at all!

I'll try to do a better trim job on quotes next time.

It's all good from where I sit.

Welcome to our little corner of the internet. Ovations, with their round back, are hard for ME to hold while sitting. Might want to try one first. Another idea you may not have considered, Archtops with F-Holes are nice looking, and some can be very affordable. Older ones can have more cool factor to some. The unplugged tone may or may not be satisfying to you . I mostly look for sound and playability, but everyone has their own priorities. Best of luck in your search.

I thought the Fender Sonoran looked pretty cool with the electric Fender headstock design. Acoustically, they did nothing for me, never tried one plugged in:

Holy crap, I love both of those! Lots of great suggestions so far, but this one takes the cake.

Also, thanks to everyone who's being really nice, but I also understand those who disagree with me.

I mean, listen.. I've been playing my cheap Fender with 6 month old strings for a while now, but I make it sound great. I'm not one of those people who has the luxury, or even who wants to collect a bunch of different guitars and play a different one every day.

This next purchase is going to be my first 'expensive' (it's expensive for me lol) guitar and I plan on rolling with it until either it breaks or I die.
Think of it as a romantic relationship. You start liking someone based on their looks and then you end up falling in love with their personality. I will fall in love with any guitar's sound over time the same exact way.

The sound and feel are subjective anyway. I'll make people fall in love with my guitar either way through my playing. Standing out from the crowd is, however, objective. And standing out is very important to me.

And while there are tons of you who will never agree with me on guitars, I can rock one like crazy, so I hope we can still at least get along through music.

TL;DR
I'm a dumb teenager.

Dang we've got a brutal bunch of old codgers here (yeah I know I'm one of them sometimes). I can almost remember being young enough that looking cool was the most important consideration in the majority of my purchases. Heck I even owned a white Kramer Farrington in the 80's. My gigging partner loves good inexpensive player guitars and has a BUNCH of them. One that he uses frequently is a Gretsch Rancher and it is actually a good sounding guitar. Especially plugged in. The acoustic tone is pretty dang respectable too. Here's a pic from one of our shows in Gatlinburg.
