Well at least I 'm not the only one turns off the radio when I hear all these bands! A lot of it is ;I 'm tired of listening to all this stuff mentioned... For me it comes down to just listening to my guitar playing and trying to make it better ,rather than trying to learn tired old songs . .. sorry to drift from the subject.

Thumbs up

^^^ Oooh, some kindred spirits here . Did not list all personal musical annoyances, no one has time for that. But the ones listed here are interesting. Had a mentor say it’s the tired players not the music. I am guilty of that, at times it just doesn’t dance. Luckily not an ‘aging rocker’ amassing for retirement. I simply need to be to be sentenced to more hours of happy rehabilitative practice, once I find more hours.

The bands that I listed I didn't like when they were shiny and new either.

U2. I hate the noise they make, and the air of importance they clothe it in. They are the only popular band I can think of who doesn’t have a song I sort of like.

Well…..there’s no accounting for individual taste….I’m struggling to think of a band I just plain don’t like because I pretty much don’t listen to music I don’t want to listen to and therefore don’t develop a disdain for it. Let’s see…..I wasn’t wild about The Archie’s or Alvin and the Chipmunks…..but in all fairness I was comparing them to The Beatles…..

I agree with some of these. I never warmed up to R.E.M. There’s a lot of music that I intensely dislike. I hate Meatloaf and Micheal Jackson.

I'm not a fan of The Grateful Dead, Jimmy Buffet, most Led Zeppelin, most Beatles, Rolling Stones, basically most bands from the 60's and 70's. Just not my thing. I'm in my 30's, I like a lot of 90's bands, the New Wave and Madchester scene, some newer bands as well such as Auri. I also like a lot of Classical music, mostly Baroque.

Phil Collins…had to change stations more times than I can count when he was played incessantly. +1 on REO Speedwagon.

Oh, I forgot about the sussudio guy!

Can’t stand him either! I love Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett though, go figure.

I can get why people don't like the Beatles. I can't remember the last time I put on a Beatles record, actually. But I know they changed the world...

Might be fun to spin this thread around too...artists you like that everyone you know doesn't...
I could not agree more.

I do think in some ways the same can be said for the Stones.

Their contribution to music can't be denied. It was huger than huge.

I started playing at young age, 8 or 9.. by the time I got things figured out
it was when bands like Zepplin, Deep Purple, Hendrix, Allman Bros, et al. were in full stride.

Most of the time I spent in my room with a guitar it would be learning THAT stuff. that's where I was, and I was ALL in.

And Stevie slowed down sounds like...a really good male singer.

I love Mac/Stevie, but I get it.
