Default Question about LD Systems Maui arrays

From what I understand, the LD array spreads the frequencies high/mid/lows from top to bottom versus the Bose which I believe is uniform from top to bottom, excluding the sub. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

I see some users are not having vocal mic feedback problems with the Maui’s. What I’m wondering is if users are placing your system behind you, is your vocal mic placed from a standing or seated position?

If the system is around 6 feet tall and you’re standing which places your vocal mic right in line with the high frequency “horn”, is that problematic or does it reject feeding back well? I’d imagine being in a seated position would be less problematic.

Thanks

Yea, I don't know if that's exactly real world. I have two Maui's; a 5 and a 28.

Your first question about the arrays depends on the model. The 5 only has the mid and hi's in the upper portion of the array (one out of the the 3 array pieces). The other two are just to get the one with the speakers up to head level. With my 28, there are speakers in each of the 3 sections of the array.

I've had feedback only once with the 5. It was only a couple feet behind me and off my left shoulder. My buddy had some harmonizers plugged in which I never used and I/we had some feedback problems during that show. Other than that one time, never had problems with either the 5 or 28.

Thanks for the video. I should have specified the Maui 28, but the video of the 5 is still very impressive.

Thanks again

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. When you perform, are you sitting or standing?

Thanks for that. I’m still fighting a little bit of feedback with my L1S. I believe it’s mostly due to my singer who kinda gets a little loose with his mic pointed at the stick. I do run it a little bit hot though. I’ve EQ’d the hell out of his mic to keep it at a minimum.

If I ended up with a Maui 28, I was concerned with its feedback rejection at higher volumes with having our mics level with the high frequency drivers which may force me to move the stick up front instead of behind.

Thanks again.

I have to be honest. I have not gigged with the 28 solo. I've used it with my Schertler Jam 200 as a powered speaker 10 yards away and I use it solo with a QSC Touchmix but only at home with my buddies. Not gigged like the Maui 5.
