Congratulations on this beautiful build to both Tyler and the lucky new owner.
Please let us know your impressions of the sound after you've had time to play it for a while and if you get tired of it please let me know! |

This guitar is amazing! The note sustain really stands out to me. Chord comping or finger (nail) picking / plucking is very easy, giving a full sound. There is nothing that feels uncomfortable! The action is perfect!
The body style has worked out just how I hoped it would. (I love the bevels) This is Tylers first guitar of this size (R.2ca) I wanted a slightly smaller size acoustic. He made it happen. For me guitars have come and gone out of my life but this one will be with me to the end! |

That is some of the finest cocobolo I've seen, and the rosette is spectacular. Congrats on the build!

That turned out really beautiful! Great work, Tyler. Did I miss it in this thread somewhere- was there a pickup added? What kind?

We did go with a pickup on this one. Randy did some research and decided on the Trance Audio Amulet Phantom. http://www.tranceaudio.com/amuletmphantom.html I only got to spend a little bit of time with that pickup but from what I heard, I really liked it. The pickup does not have a battery pack but the sensors that attach to the bridge plate have a bit of weight to them. Much more then a K&k. I got lucky, the weight of the pickup actually dropped the frequency of the top a decent amount, but it landed between scale tones. The difference may or may not be audible but had it landed too close to a scale tone, I could have ended up with a wolf tone which would have been unacceptable. If I work with this pickup again, I will install it prior to final voicing of the instrument so that nothing is left to chance. -Tyler |
