I have a very nice double-top classical guitar. Many classical guitarists do not prefer the double-tops, but I like mine very much. There is a volume and resonance associated with the design that is hard to duplicate with a single top. The two wooden or composite layers are separated by a center structural material that allows air chambers to exist between the outer layers. The sound of the Savoy is distinctive and shows the wisdom of its double-top construction, especially when the body is not large.
