Default Tablet Apps & Programs

I'm sure this has probably been asked a hundred times. But, tech is always evolving. I am fairly computer literate. But, I'm a Neanderthal when it comes to smart phones. I don't have or want a smart phone and never been motivated enough to jump into the guitar tablet world.

What program(s) or apps do you use on your tablet for cataloging songs/playlists, for practice and for gigs? I've been using sheet music. But, keep thinking I ought to try something digital that either scrolls or has a footswitch to page forward.

A lot probably depends on whether you have a windows, Apple or Android platform. I prefer to stay away from Apple products.

I'd like to get a decent sized tablet that's easy for old eyes to see from a few feet away, maybe 10" or more.

Do you have any suggestions on
tablets,
stands,
footswitch page turners,
song and playlist storage/cataloging,
apps for practicing (tempo changer),
apps that scroll or page forward easily,
etc, etc etc.

I can highly recommend the Songbook App for android.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...hl=en_US&gl=US

I've been using it for gigs for the past 5 or 6 years, it is indispensable for me.

It’s hard to beat forscore for iOs. Easy to import score/tabs, supports annotation and works well with airturn.

I too use Forscore and the largest iPad they make. I could have gone with a smaller model, but was afraid my 14 point lyrics would be too small. I got a totally refurbed 3 year old model from Apple at a very large discount from there price of new.

There are 2791 songs there and almost all fo them have notation. I hav ether grouped by genre and can find things pretty quickly, far faster than I was with notebooks. And the savings in weight is tremendous. Also, it is so much easier now to orange things in the order I want.

OTOH, putting that many into it took up a lot of time. When I was almost through, I found a quicker and easier way. Should have stated with it!

This is just a small sample. Highly recommend a iPad as they work better with audio input with minimal latencey. The entry level ipad or even a used one will be more than adequate.

Hi jwellsy

The best 'song' catalog and display app is probably OnSong, and it is the PhotoShop of song reading apps for Apple Tablets. It can extract and track chord/lyric charts.

It can read plain text or pdf, and it allows one to modify the actual simple programming language which embeds chords in text to post them directly above the correct spot in the word that chords change (even middle of word).

Also the less capable (only reads pdf) but very good app is UnrealBook. It's been my main chart reader for over 10 years now.

If a Church/Worship Team uses Planning Center then the worship songs can be displayed in the Planning Center chart reading App - easy to set up and use. It automatically loads the songs for that service in the reader.

ForScore is an app designed for orchestral scores, band scores, and other notation charts. It is possible to set them up to follow the markings and then click a BlueTooth switch to jump to the section of a score called for next (for instance - D.C. al fine will let you click back to the beginning and then to the end of the score on cue).

These are the main four score-reading and chorus/chord/lyric apps for iPads - and each does what it does well, and duplicates some features of the others.

Ipads are extremely limited machines. You can find very cheap budget tablets with full versions of Windows. There are tons of usb pedal choices out there that are programmable. I use a 3 pedal Lemo. I run my tabs directly out of GTPRO, Tux or PDFs through Chrome. If I am home or away the transition is seamless. All my files live local and in the cloud. From my tablet to my PC station at home it works the same way.
