Default Poor Boy Long Way From Home/Vestapol

Here's an old video from 8 years or so ago based on arrangements by Franco Morone and of course Stefan Grossman.

Hope you like it.

Great stuff! That, and a cup of coffee, got me going this morning. Thanks for posting.

I loved that. You may have to change your name to Pickin' and Grinnin' Phil...

Don't think I have heard you play anything like this Phil - you did a great job on this!

Really enjoyed that, Phil! I was not familiar with this tune until ChuckS posted it a couple of weeks ago. Immediately put it on my "someday" list. Wonderful stuff!!

I believe Phil's post was a medley of 2 separate songs. What I had posted was only "Poor Boy A Long Ways From Home", and this includes "Vestapol" which is another tune. They have similarities, and blend together well, as they are both usually played in an open D tuning with a strong alternating bass.

Thanks Peter. I used to play a lot of this sort of stuff. I actually changed from electric to acoustic because of Stefan Grossman in the mid to late 80's.

Very interesting... that was fun. You ought to play more of this style, Phil. Love the alternating bass. I've never played that tune, but it piques my interest. Thanks!

That was fun -- very different from your more recent videos. Very blues oriented.

Great job Phil!
