Didn’t Taylor trademark the letter ‘V’?

Oh, that's funny! My wife really laughed at this comment!

As Dirk commented, I can just feel my shoulder hurting! That sure is a big sound, though. And actually, that $4999 seems like a very fair price for this guitar. I would guess that Bluegrass players would really love something like this, though I wonder if they wouldn't like the better balance and projection of the Koa version better than the Guatemalan rosewood version.

I confess, I had some difficulty making a judgment about how good these guitars sounded with the player just banging on the strings. I rarely play like that, so I couldn't get any reference point about what the guitars really sounded like compared to how I play. I think I will have to wait for Carl Miner to get his hands on one of these. But then, what guitar wouldn't sound fantastic with Carl Miner playing it????

For myself, I can believe that with a sound power meter that the sound off those larger Super D guitars is 12 dbA louder than something like a D-28 or HD-28, especially with someone just banging on the strings like that.

Thanks for the information, Jeremy! Very cool to read about something new from Martin! Good for them, even if I don't buy it. I do already have enough great guitars for a lifetime.

Oh boy, that is a monster. That has outstanding volume, and I for one think I will have to dive head first down into that Rabbit hole....I love that Martin is willing to explore different variations of certain models, like the D-28 or D-18 because in the end it provides us the consumer a much wider palate and palette how ever you wish to look at it. Isn't it about finding the best tone that works for you the goal in looking for a guitar? I like options.

12 dB above a standard dreadnought??? That can't possibly be accurate, can it? If it is, good luck singing with that thing.

Earlier this week there was the rumor of a new signature model that might be coming and they really missed their chance to name it The Tenacious D.

With the return of the USA Guild 17" jumbos and renewed interest in both them and the J-200, they would've been better off making the Grand J body an RPO item in the Standard Series...

My dealer had one on order and reserved it for me. It will replace the Authentic that I liked but couldn’t bond with the neck. Early October ETA. Hopefully I will not be a laughing stock. [emoji23]

If this doesn't become a normal production body size, then this will probably end up like the Ditsons - rare and highly sought after by people who like them.

The GRW sounds great. Anyone have any idea of the body depth measurements at the heel and tail ? If it’s same depth but just a longer body length, I think that will work for a lot of people. But if it goes beyond 4 7/8” at the tail, it’s a non starter for many (including me).

Brendan...supposedly the body depth will match existing Martin dreads. Roughly 3/4" wider lower bout and around 3/8" wider upper bout.

Thanks Jim, but yikes. I was hoping it was only a slightly (1 - 1.25” ?) elongated body, but I guess that’s not the case. 3/4” extra width too…ooof.

It is supposedly the same as current dreadnought depth. And I saw 16-5/8” wide and 4.75” deep on UMGF. No idea if that’s true. If so, it’s a pretty big guitar. But the GRW is one reason I’m interested.

Hopefully it isn’t a disaster. [emoji23]
