Default Double acoustic "Cassidy" Bob Weir and Grateful Dead cover

I was able to squeeze another iphone recording out with my son before we take him off to start college this weekend. (His school starts late as they use the quarter system and all his high-school friends have already started.)

Occasionally we record one that we have been playing for a while and know well, but more often we record something that we have just learned. Those moments usually have a combination of excitement and apprehension as we struggle/focus to remember the arrangement and the changes etc.

These new-to-us songs, like "Cassidy" here are the most fun to record because, literally two or three days before we recorded it, we didn't know that we could play it at all! Just delightful.

I have always liked this song and was happily surprised that we got through it. Not the best work on vocals but we managed several bars playing together that make me smile, and isn't that what it's all about?

We're each on Breedlove Deluxe Revivals, an OM and a 000.

Lovely duo cover of a classic.
Nice picking, and the guitar solo is very nice.
Beautiful singing.

Hey Joe, great stuff! I've always thought that would be a tough song to play, let alone sing, so I'm glad to see you guys do what I think is the first cover version I've heard. Beautiful!

Keep smilin' this weekend

Man, I play that song from time to time. I don’t play it well and I sing it much worse than not well. This is a tiny bit rougher than some of your stuff, but you pull it off! And what’s sweeter than those last few tunes with your boy still at home? Our nest has been empty for 15 or so years, but I still remember the bittersweet feeling when each daughter left. Glad you could get this one in with him!

Suzanne Vega does a great straight ahead cover you might like. Thanks for the encouragement to keep smiling. It’s the ride back next week my wife and I are avoiding discussing.

Well, that was very cool! How nice to hear you both playing together one more time!

Wonderful!

Thanks Ray. This song has grown on me over time. Somehow I figured it sounded too difficult to sing and play. Thanks for listening.

Indeed. My brother described the feelings as existential. Thanks for commenting.
