Default Dreadnought research

Looking for opinions on builders that excel with dreadnought builds. Any recommendations would be great. Guitar would be used for rhythm, some flat picking and some finger style.

Currently, I’m looking at Preston Thompson guitars, but wanted to get others opinions as well.

Any ideas would be appreciated, as I’m in research mode!

Thank you!

Smile AGF sponsors???

I don't think you could go wrong with any of the AGF sponsors. You might send them PMs and inquiries...

John Kinnaird was just telling me he has a 12 fret dread he is pretty sure I would really enjoy. I am considering details of my next build with him. #6. !!!

BTW, he has been building some spectacular larger 16.25" and 16.7/8" Lower Bout gits lately. Both for me and others here.

Cubic inches are hard to overcome. Physics, etc...

May I suggest Wedge and bevels? Why not be comfy? Although they might look at you Funny at the bluegrass jam! You will still be playing it when they are reduced to 00s!

Enjoy the search, and tune up often

Paul

Assuming you're looking for something in the Martin tradition... the usual boutique builder suspects would be Bourgeois, Huss and Dalton, Santa Cruz, Collings, Pre War Guitar Co.

And then there are a bunch of solo luthiers, many of them listed in this thread: https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=602629
