What sort of tunings and string gauges are you planning to use with it?

All the best,

Oh yeah....you bet it will have a soundport! Just haven't decided what!

what tuning will you use on the bench testing, will it be B-B, what baritone strings will you use? What is the scale length, I am not familiar with the multi-scale length.

I will bet setting it up for B-B on .016 - .070 gauge strings. 27.75" scale length on the low B side feathering down to 26.9" scale on the high B. In essence each string will have its own scale length.

I know, and totally understand!! The only thing I would change on my Zion would be to make it fan fret. I'm excited to watch this build, and I just know it's going to be a beast

BTW I noticed you were asking some questions about string spacing and strings. Mine is 1 13/16"-2 3/8" and strung .066/.056/.045/.035/.026/.017 tuned B-B (28" scale). Good mix of playability and tone for days.

A bit more progress...

The soundboard joint is probably the most critical joint in the whole guitar.
A good seam can be hard to get...

Shape traced

and here it is ready to sand to final thickness

A few more steps completed today.

Sand sides to final thickness

Using a template to trace the taper of the sides

Cutting to size

And ready to bend!

Great progress! What are your plans for other appointments, e.g., bindings, purfling, etc.?

That's probably quite true!

I've asked before, though (about a roadtrip to Malaysia); not going to happen

Default Fretboard done!

And here it is. It is a precision CNC cut multiscale ebony board. I am happy with the spread position. Not too radical of an angle.

may be a bit hard to notice the angle frets but they're there...

Default And the double top

A precisely measured amount of high strength industrial Epoxie ready to be mixed.

After mixing, the adhesive is applied to one of the sides and spread sparingly with this high tech spreading devise!

After is evenly coated I scrape off the excess to limit to weight.

And a few thousand pounds per inch of vacuum clamping power should do the rest....

Default Got Rosette?

Well, I am leaning towards a more organic for this build so I decided to use a spalted maple rosette as I believe it will offer a nice contrast with the soundboard. What do you guys think?

here's the blank

in the fixture

designated tool to do this one job.

Done deal

and the final product.

Great progress! I can barely see the angle at all on the fan frets.

I think the spalted maple ring will be very nice high contrast with respect to the redwood.
