1983 Takamine ef39R Pickup System Help

hello. I recently purchased this guitar and trying to sort out and find information on the pickup system. it has under the bridge standard pickup but also one under the neck. It also has a selector switch I believe to run each pickup or both together. Since it does not work in one position I believe there is an issue with one of the pickups. But I cannot find any information on this system ... seems to be a rare setup?
