The editions made for stores I've checked out have been good values as far as a new purchase is concerned. I am a chronic craigslist, eBay and used guitar watcher and see that a lot of models made for the chain stores and as special editions do not always move as fast or for as much as classic models. That's good if you get a great instrument at a good price and might not be so good if you're the seller.
In the current market I've seen used D-28s and HD-28s at great prices so I'd look hard at those if a used instrument is of interest.

The dreaded necro from a new guy. I apologize.
Looking at taking an '08 D-15 GC (RW-FG) Custom 03 in a trade deal and have struggled to get info. The spec sheet from Martin is identical to what was posted here up thread. Can't pin down what these sold for new and what are they going for now? Thanks

I remember playing these in 2005-2006 and the sticker price at GC was $1100. I always really wanted one, and I liked the gold aesthetics, too. They seem to hold value pretty well, as I've checked, and they still seem to sell for around $1200 used now.
