Default Second mic specifically for Harmony

I recently saw a guy that was using two vocal mics on a spreader. He used one for straight vocals and the other was set up for harmony through some type of processor. Would just move back and forth from mic to mic.

I use a Harmony Singer live on some songs as a foot switch (which I’m not crazy about).

This idea intrigues me….you could permanently set the harmony through a separate channel and have it off the floor allowing you to change the harmony structure for different songs.

Anyone do this?

Not yet but I also saw that post and it got me thinking about trying it out.

One big reason that I don't use my TC Voice Harmonizer is that I don't like the foot switch and find it easy to miss when using it.

I’ve seen a second mic for looping as well.

My current regular gig (on bass) is with a guy who does that - to great effect I might add. For my solo stuff I just do one mic and a foot switch. He's using the TC Extreme and two SM58s. The harmonies are always available, he just has to move his head. Bonus that he can modulate the amount and volume of the harmonies by head moves as well. much more natural and nuanced than switching in/out.

Are they both hypercardioid mics? I'm surprised the harmony mic wouldn't pick up side tones from the non-harmony mic.
