Default Ordered a really special guitar !

I'm fickle. I've bought, sold, regretted and re-bought four different times. Nope. Really. Four times.

Well...

Some may recall I wanted to get back into playing electric a little and I wanted something in addition to my old trusty Gibson. On paper all the spec's I liked and all my boxes were checked by a Taylor Solidbody. I bought a couple SB1's and liked them. But, I didn't like the plastic pickguard covered hollow cavity - it created a bunch of sound artifacts that grated on me. Then the concerns about bridge integrity sort of piled on, plus I still had my old electric Gibson. So I sold it off.

Two years later I've built a "perfect" pedalboard and started toying around with my electric again. I started looking again for a better electric. I'm not serious into electric anymore but it is an important part of playing for me.

So I started shopping again and, again, all the specs for me are checked off by a (now obsolete) Taylor solidbody. But I wanted a direct mount not a loaded pickguard.

Well, well, well......

I stumbled upon exactly the right guitar and it even had my all-time favorite color scheme on an electric. And the overlay is the most gorgeous piece of wood I've ever seen on a headstock.

And, here is the best part:

It is brand new. I even emailed and called Taylor and they confirmed it.
This is a brand new, old stock guitar. Given the timing, I am convinced I got the last brand new Taylor solidbody guitar ever sold. The last one!

And it was on old-stock clearance price so I can't believe the "can't pass up" deal I struck with an authorized Taylor shop in Europe (60% off MSRP!).

Well, my new unbelievable find is on it's way across the Atlantic right now.

These are the shop's pics.

NGD pics to come once it arrives!

It's so cool to have my favorite specs and my favorite color and to actually have the last one ever.

So you went with the overseas Taylor - Congrats! I know you were tempted on that one. Looking forward to reading you review. Hope it fills your needs!

Yeah, I did.

I wasn't really shopping seriously for an electric - just toying with ideas.

This one popped up in my reverb.com feed and it was guitar-love at first sight.

I went back and forth with the shop for a while and then with Taylor because I thought it was too good to be true.

I don't have a ton of money in my small collection of nice guitars (I'm a pretty savvy "flipper" and shopper) but this one is now my second highest guitar purchase so I will be a little on edge for a while but so far it's nothing but excitement on this end.

fazool-

congratulations!! looks like a fine electric guitar!!

I don't know anything* about Taylor electrics, other than they don't make them anymore . I heard they'd stopped supporting these models.. is that true? do you still get a warranty from Taylor on this guitar? just curious as someone who'd be interested in learning more about these, because they look fantastic.

anyway, congrats again, will be looking forward to the NGD post and your full review/pics. thanks for sharing!

cheers

So, that's an interesting point. All new purchases come with a lifetime warranty and since Taylor confirmed this one is brand new that includes this one.

So, I have a full lifetime warranty (which is super cool) but I don't really know how they will honor it.

For example, the bridge is a risk-point (just ask AGF-er Steve DeRosa who got the last one ever made). If a bridge breaks, I don't know if they can get more or if they simply give you your money back or what.

I just don't know how this works with them.

Very nice, congratulations! I bet you are already planning a design for a new TRC...or duplicate the last one you did?

Still have that one and already planning on using it but I might get it remade in a matching wood.

Congrats! Those look like really neat guitars.
Hopefully unless you have bad luck or jump into mosh pits with your guitar, you won't have a problem with the exclusive Taylor hardware...
