Default 1938 Martin 0-17

**sold, pending payment and approval

For sale is my 1938 0-17.

I bought this late last year locally. It has lovely tone, a perfect set up, and is surprisingly loud. I had an LR Baggs Lyric professionally installed and have been using this guitar at open mics.

This 0-17 was entirely refinished and brought back to life by Bill Tippin. Bill sent me the work sheet, and it is included. It feels and plays very similar to the Santa Cruz ‘29 series guitars I’ve played, but even better in my opinion.

Price is $..... plus shipping.

Here’s a link to the reverb ad used when I purchased her. *It is a ‘38, not a ‘34 though. In addition, the reverb ad references a hairline crack in the bridge, but it must have been fixed since because I cannot see it and I've had the guitar looked over by some thorough respected luthiers.

I think the guitar is in wonderful shape!

Thanks.

I’m putting this one back up for sale.

A great little guitar. Sweet tone and perfect set up. A really wonderful couch guitar, and with the refinish, no need to worry about it at open mics and gatherings.

Thanks for looking.

I’m open to trade if you have a Guild Orpheum Hog Slope.

In the invoice from Bill Tippin it says the bridge was replaced. You might also want to change your O-17 to 0-17 (a zero instead of a capital O) so people searching the internet will find this wonderful little guitar. I have a 37 00-17 and it’s one of my favorites. I also own one of Bill Tippin’s OMT so if it came through Bill’s shop, it had to be restored to perfection. Best of luck.

PM sent.

I love the story behind this guitar. I was wondering about that 'unrepaired hairline crack' in the Reverb timeline story but since it appears the Tippin repair came after and he replaced the bridge and bridge plate, I would think he would have had to repair that then.

Yeah, I can’t see it. That reverb ad looks like it may have been amended a few times over the years. I bought it local and in person a/b’ing with my other guitars. It’s really nice. I probably should hold on to it for when my shoulder finally gives out and dreads are no longer the preference

With the Lyric installed, this makes a great open mic and recording guitar.
