I'm glad you guys like the black top, and it's gratifying to get the nice comments. Thank you! I've always liked this look, but it's only the third time we have had the opportunity to build one.
One often wonders, "Are they hiding some blemish in the wood with that black finish?" And of course the answer is a sheepish "yes". At least on this one. We have had this top in our stash for years. It has a glorious ring to it when tapped, but would win an ugly dog contest hands down. The hope was that some day one of our black-top-customers would return for a repeat. And he did!
I love it when a good piece of wood can be used even if cosmetically inferior.

Thanks again guys,

Steve

Wow--beautiful!

I see you guys are sticking with that large triple dot inlay too!

Not sure about that 4th one off to the side though...

Thanks guys, this kind of animal is rarely seen in the wild, but I’ve got some pictures.

The surprise unveiling is supposed to happen in about an hour. What a graduation present!

That is a spectacular look - I really like it! You're sort of on a double 0 roll lately.

Thanks guys, yes it seems we are building a fair number of these.
This happens when a "new" model is introduced. They enjoy a surge of interest.
But also in this case, the design has proven itself to be so successful, these little guitars almost sell themselves.
