My wood guitars stay in their cases, especially this dry time of year. During the more moderate months, I will sometimes leave one out handy on a stand. Our house stays at 40-50% for much of the year, except during the peak heating or peak AC seasons. There are times (like right now) when the house is down to 35% RH indoors, and so the humidity challenge begins.

My carbon fiber guitars stay out on wall hangers all of the time, only ever seeing a case for transport somewhere. That is a big part of why I have them. Because they are even handier, they get the lion's share of the play time. The wood guitars only come out when I feel like playing a specific guitar, or to get their humidity devices re-wetted.

I follow the Frazervalley method.
When I got my very first acoustic, I knew nothing of humidity for a guitar.
It kind of got forgotten in a hard gig bag after another purchase, and when I finally opened the bag after a couple of winter months, I discovered the top was seriously cracked. Being ignorant, I asked my wife: "Is it supposed to do this?"
Ever since, I follow the Frazervalley method.

None...all my guitars are out on a rack in my studio, with the room kept at 45 to 50% RH, 70* F. They just seem to get stuffy sounding if they lay in the case too long.

I also have a couple stacks of cases, though...one for each guitar.

In their cases, that way every time I grab one to play it's like opening a delightful treasure.

Only my Martin Grand J12-40E Special lives in it's case (with D'Addario 2-way humidifying system) - everything else stays out on stands.

I have a 5 year old grandson and a 130 pound hound. EVERYTHING stays in the case. If I had a double-bass case, I might try to hide in there myself.

All my guitars live in their cases, even the one under construction. I also tend to leave the cases next to my workbench next to my wife’s prized wine collection. I just installed a humidifier on my furnace but am not noticing a significant advantage but would keep my guitars cased anyway since nobody is gentle with them. In fact, if there were a fire I might grab the Larrivee but likely several bottles of wine as well!

Every acoustic guitar but my old cheapo arch top live in their cases. The guitar I'm currently playing gets three latches for convenience. I have some electrics that hang on the wall, and one mandolin that hangs up too.

I always put my 00 15 in it's case because I love the smell when I open it. Four years on it still smells like heaven.

My first 15 years of playing were caseless and I have all the dings to match.

Once you get into pulling out the case everytime you will be fine. Small word of caution. Another way to make scratches, dents and dings is to not carefully put back the guitar in its case on a perfect angle. Lower it against the foam vertically. Then there's the case lid that closes prematurely due to case angle, or wind, or....

I have a couple heavy Ameritage cases - I call them my workout.
