Default New String Brand I've Found: Magma

So, I like trying out new strings from Strings by Mail. So I tried the 80/20 Magma 12 gauge strings.

They feel good, and sound really solid! Longevity is still up in the air, but for the price, that is a minimal issue to me.

Thanks for that - I'll be interested to see how you find them.

I see their coated strings are double the price of their uncoated strings.

You can never go wrong once you know who the manufacturer is!

Including full flat wound acoustic steel strings? D'Addario makes "flat-top" acoustic strings, but not sure I've seen fully flat wound steel acoustic strings before. Thomastik-Infeld makes them for Classical guitars. I imagine they're not the first, but can't recall seeing em. Might reduce squeaking? I believe I tried the D'Addario's flat-tops once though and wasn't enthusiastic.

I have been using Magma medium (12-54) PB flat ground strings for over two months now and they still sound great!

I've been using the Magma Flat Phosphor Bronze GA120PBF
hexcore strings (10-14-22-28-38-48) on my Emerald X7
and Emerald X20 since March 2021.
After 5 months with these Magma strings on my X7 and X20,
I am still very happy them and they still seem to have
plenty of life remaining.

I also have had these Magma GA120PBF strings on my
Emerald X30 since June 2021.
I don't like them as well on my X30 and have been happier with
Galli AJF1047 Extra Light 80/20 Bronze Flatwound Hexcore
(.010 - .014 - .023w - .030 - .039 - .047)
and better still with
Dogal Nightclub V25 80/20 Bronze Flatwound Round Core
(.011 - .014 - .016w - .022 - .030 - .042)
on my Emerald X30.

I just changed my Magma strings because I was getting a little bit of "pinginess" from the G string. Installed on May 29, replaced on September 24.

I'd say four months, playing every day, isn't bad!
