Firefly and Lost.
Firefly was great, so was Lost until it wasn't.

The original Star Trek, I Dream Of Genie, Stargate SG-1, The Sopranos and Game of Thrones.
LOST lost me with its long breaks in its first run, a plot with absolutely no sense of direction, the need for viewers to suspend their disbelief to the point that it’s an insult to my intelligence and a finale that basically spat in fans’ faces with its compete sense of being anticlimactic. Since then I’ve hated JJ Abrams who treated both Star Trek AND Star Wars like a kid with a tube of superglue and a book of matches.

I didn't start watching Breaking Bad or Mad Men until they were well into their runs. Two of my top favorite shows of all time. I watched The Wire well after its run was over and was very impressed.
Scrubs. Very funny show. I started watching Lost about four seasons in and I agree with the comment above that it was great until it wasn't (the ending). Some may find this an odd choice but I finally watched the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series based on my daughter's repeated recommendations and it was a truly great show. Very funny, tragic, suspenseful, dramatic and lots of cultural literacy points earned (like Breaking Bad and Mad Men). MASH has been mentioned several times. I watched most every episode of MASH during its initial run and loved it. In the last year or so, there was some anniversary of MASH and it prompted me to bring up an episode on the web to watch not having seen it since it ended in the early 80s. I only made it through about five minutes and had to shut it off. The laugh track completely ruined it for me. I hadn't watched a show with a laugh track in a long time and it was totally obnoxious. A constant stream of laughs, chuckles, giggles for no good reason. Huge guffaws for trivial things. What was really sad was that the show was very funny and had no need for it. If a version was released with the laugh track scrubbed off it, I could watch it again, but otherwise, nope. |

I really enjoyed Firefly about ten years after it first aired.
Conversely, I loved M*A*S*H when originally shown on the BBC without the canned laughter but whenever I see it on the repeat channels now I can't watch it with the laughter included. |

COLD CASE
and BOSTON LEGAL I can't believe I wasn't watching these shows when new. Caught them years later and became addicted. Cold Case many times can, in the last few minutes, be a real tear jerker kind of show. Really made a statement. Boston Legal with James Spader and William Shatner was exceptional dialogue, witty and fast moving. Sometimes really funny, and sometimes heartbreaking. I wish they would redo both of these shows.

There's a version of MASH out there without the laugh track? I'm going to look for that.

Oh yeah, that was a good one I watched most of when it was new.

I discovered quite a good few shows late in the game....Raymond, Barney Miller, 3rd Rock from the Sun.
I was on board with Seinfeld from the beginning (I was getting home from work when it came on, and everyone else was asleep) but I honestly thought is was too weird to last. Who knew? Haven't watched much TV at all in at least 10 years. About the time I started picking up the guitar regularly

I used to listen to the Lone Ranger on the radio and watch the series on television. Years later I discovered that they were available on VHS tapes and I bought a few.
Here's Episode 1 of the Lone Ranger titled "Enter The Lone Ranger". It shows how he met up with his faithful Indian companion, Tonto and how he became "The Lone Ranger". |

With Lost, I was ready to drive to his house and beat him to death with his own pitards. Star Wars is dead to me. How he managed to not screw up Fringe is beyond me. But I'm glad there was probably an adult present to reign him in.
