I used Picassa which was purchased by Google and has become Google Photos. No issues & it is free to use...

I really loved Picassa, but Google Photos doesn't provide a .jpeg type extension for photo links, which means one can't use the button here to insert an image in-line. Am I missing how to do this in Google Photos?

I just tried it. Right-click on the image, choose "Copy Image Address", and paste it in the usual place. The button is looking for a URL, not necessarily a .jpg.

...snipped image...
Thanks! Excellent.

I believe this is a change/upgrade here on AGF. I believe one used to need to use links with image extensions (.jpeg, .jpg, .gif, etc.)

That applies to attachments only, I think...

Rich, I'm sure you know this but others may not, if you are a charter member you can simply copy and paste from your computer and no exterior storage is necessary. I posted on photobucket problems a while back then it got better but lately it hasn't been working for me as well. Currently it shows I have 7 photos in my library when there should be around 30.

Additionally, my "plans" still shows I have a free account and payment is only necessary if you exceed the 2GB free limit. All this is moot, of course, if you can't reliably and easily access your photos.

Google has always owned Picassa. It just stopped supporting it in lieu of Google Photos.

I've used both for a while now.

Adobe Spark is a free service that you can sign up for
or sign in with Facebook or Google.
You can easily create social media POSTS, or VIDEO, or
what I use, PAGE https://spark.adobe.com/about/page

If you can edit the size of your pics online or on your computer
(lots of free image editors out there too, I use paintdotnet).
You can make and share the page, or copy the address of the pic and insert it into a forum post.
Just delete the red area. The idea is to have your link end in .jpg

https://spark.adobe.com/page/h92Snmm...9763b78e27.jpg?asset_id=7d3e3810-813c-48d9-b76b-92872034b797&img_etag=7a5912bd94a65a3a51b22d888945 6fd1&size=1024

I realize it sounds troublesome but Adobe doesn't compress the image and if
I make a forum post all of the pics can be the same size (width).
And I don't think Adobe is gonna go crazy and start charging $300 to use.

I believe Google acquired Picassa in the mid 2000's from Lifescape. I used the service back when it was owned by Lifescape.

It is easy to use, user friendly and free...simply copy the image address by double clicking on the image with your Mac.

I used PB for years with no problems until this current nonsense (photography is my main hobby) This week I've been trying other options, and SmugMug is the best in my opinion. I find the app useful for viewing, but the website works a lot better I find. One of my main criteria was ease of use on iMac/Pad/Phone for up/downloading and third part linking and SmugMug works very well, particularly the ability to easily resize the image down from the original dimensions to suit the desired use, a must if posting on a forum. The only choice now is whether to go for the Basic $3.99pm or Power $5.99pm plan, these prices are if paid annually, you can pay monthly but it's more. I'll probably go basic and upgrade if I need more functionality.

Edit. Best try a test here . . .

I'm still looking around for reasonably priced service with 3rd party hosting allowed. I had Imgur recommended by several - BUT their terms of service seem to me to preclude 3rd party hosting:

https://imgur.com/tos

"Stuff not to do
If someone else might own the copyright to it, don't upload it. Don't upload gore, "hate speech" (i.e. demeaning race, gender, age, religious or sexual orientation, etc.), or material that is threatening, harassing, defamatory, or that encourages violence or crime. Don't upload illegal content such as child porn or nonconsensual ("revenge") porn. Don't hotlink to adult content or to file-sharing, gambling, torrent, warez, or Imgur rip-off sites. Don't impersonate someone else. Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network. If you do – and we will be the judge – or if you do anything illegal, in addition to any other legal rights we may have, we will ban you along with the site you're hotlinking from, delete all your images, report you to the authorities if necessary, and prevent you from viewing any images hosted on Imgur.com. We mean it."

So my search goes on...

Phil

Phil
Unless I am misunderstanding what you are referring to as 3rd party hosting ?
I think 3rd parting hosting is actually the point of IMGUR isn't it ?
Given Imgur is the first of 10 referenced in this article about free Image hosting I think your good to go

https://www.lifewire.com/free-image-...-sites-3486329

I think what the bold type is talking about is don't use Imgur to host images that you link to from you personal website (In other words they do not want you to use their storage and bandwidth to house and host what should be stored on and accessible directly from your website ) like for example a professional photographer storing images on Imgur linked from their website.

My understanding of 3 rd party hosting is simply being able to directly embed your photos hosted on Imgur into a 3rd party website/forum etc.
