We did finally talk for a little while yesterday. No plans yet, but we definitely agreed there would be some micro brew induced porch jams in the very near future. He actually up and left town right after talking, and I’m trying to entertain three kids on Summer vacation... so it might take a little time.

I hope it turns out that we do sit and plays blues fairly often. I’ve been thinking lately that beyond my students I really don’t interact with other musicians at all anymore. And blues is my first love, so it could be just what I need to get my blood pumping again.

I have the lead guitarist of a once-famous rock group (now disbanded) living down the street from me but he is so shy (and such a nice guy) that none of us are going to divulge his name or that of the band. Interestingly enough, that same house used to be owned by the lead guitarist in the cover band for which I played bass--he also shared a law office with me, but before going to law school he was lead guitarist for REO Speedwagon. They were offered a major label contract on the condition they abandon blues-rock for pop-rock; the day he was supposed to decide, he got accepted at Georgetown U. Law School. The rest is history (and so, thank goodness, is REO).

Eric,

I went onto K&K's site to get their contact information. Look who is Artist of the Month on K&K's website.

Oregon !!!! Seems to be a happening place for musicians! I live in Oregon and my next door neighbor was the sales manager at a guitar manufacturer and is still involved in a few local bands... he has since left the "Guitar Manufacturer", but he did bring home some beautiful guitars while he was employed there. I'm not quite good enough yet to jam with him and his band mates, but I've enjoyed meeting all the local musicians that stream through the neighborhood.

EVERYONE... get out and meet those neighbors...
