Default Radial Tonebone Bumper Guitar Switcher

Anybody use one of these with acoustics and your thoughts if you do? Can it be used to route Preamps outs as well or would that create some kind of weird mismatch? Thanks

It's a discontinued product according to their website.

I would expect there would be a level mismatch as acoustic guitar pickups and preamp outs are generally different levels.

These have indeed been discontinued by Radial. Frankly, I find it surprising that they didn't sell, or would still sell, a whole lot of them. Considering that so many players have multiple guitars of varying output levels, you would think they'd be all over these "level adjusters/switchers". Makes switching guitars a quick breeze - especially live.

The Bumper does not amplify but it can bring the levels of the louder guitars down to the level of the least loud one to have +- similar levels across the board. Not to mention that is routes 1 of up to 4 guitars to an amp, preamp or mixer etc. (No, you cannot route more than 1 at a time, if you're wondering...). Also, and another bonus, the "drag" function will brighten or darken the sound of passive pick ups.

Anyway, I just bought a new one on sale at $70 off and will be trying it out over the next while but it seems to me it'll be a good addition.

Cheers!

Get a Tonebone PZ Pre. Two switchable inputs with individual volume controls and Piezo preamp available. Built-in mute so its easy and quick and silent to plug/unplug instruments when needed.

Mike, you might be confusing the purpose of these things here. The PZ is a preamp - and a great one at that. The Bumper is a switch - not a preamp. Its job is to switch between (up to) 4 guitars without fussing with plugging and unplugging and (to some degree) adjusting levels.

But you can use the PZ for just that, albeit with only 2 inputs.

And, it's buyer beware evidently. Being in Canada, your link re-directed me to the Canadian site of Amazon and displayed the Bumper at a whopping and totally crazy price of $490!! I paid $129 brand new! I reported this to Amazon and sent an email to the "seller". This is a complete ripoff and hopefully, nobody falls for it.

What about something like this: http://www.radialeng.com/product/4-play

I know it's not switching between instruments but it looks like you can simply mute, plug in the next instrument and then have the multiple instruments going to different inputs or devices.

Good item but for a very different purpose. The 4-play has 1 input 4 outputs. The Bumper 4 inputs 1 output.
