In an attempt to further correct himself, Ryan has cut a plug of ebony with a new piece of equipment that this design, oh I mean his mistake, caused them to purchase, and in this picture placed it in the defect to check the fit. When glued the grain is lined up before making it a permanent fixture.
Next, to make the fretboard the correct length, the rosewood burl was cut with a slight curve matching the curve that was cut by Ryan in the end of the ebony. The binding is laid for affect only at this point, it will wrap around the rosewood probably today.... There is a reason for this madness beyond what you see here. That aspect will be revealed later... Thanks.... OK, Ryan was not really mad at me before he did all this, he may be now, I can't say for sure, but not before...

PS. This all stemmed from me not wanting just a plain cut off end for the fretboard, so at this point I should do two things, first thank Steve and Ryan, Steve's design and Ryan's implementation, and then say sorry to Steve and Ryan for the same....

As promised
Here is a look at a more "finished" view of the end of the fretboard feature. Stay tuned for updates:
The end piece is the same as the rosette so they should end up the same color.

Thank you very much guys and I thank you from Steve and Ryan also. It has come out really perfectly thus far, exactly as Steve had drawn it. But, I encourage you to keep watching, because it is not done yet...

More neck work today
The neck got some more attention today. The first pic show Steve using a bow saw to take some excess wood from the neck heel:
[IMG][/IMG] Next shows Steve at a safety planer getting the neck down close to appropriate depth: [IMG][/IMG] Next is Steve with a scraper getting the heel close to perfect: [IMG][/IMG]
