Martin 000-MMV - Poor Man's OMJM/000-28 - Nazareth made - spruce, rosewood, ebony
SOLD. Only interested in Stratocasters, Telecasters, Les Pauls & SGs for trades.
Here we have a 2011 Martin 000-MMV - a poor man's 000-28. Made in Nazareth, Pennsylvania USA, it has a solid spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides, and this model has an ebony fingerboard and bridge. Newer 000-MMV models have richlite in place of ebony, but this one has ebony as evidenced by the grain/pores in the fingerboard and bridge. This is a Guitar Center special run since 2005. It provides an incredible value for an all-solid wood USA-made Martin. So, how does this model differ from the 000-28? From my research, this guitar has a longer scale length (25.4" vs 24.9") and bracing from the 15 series instead of the 28 series. Aside from that, the two models are astonishingly similar. This particular guitar is in very good condition, but has been played. There are minor surface scratches from strumming, a couple pen-head sized dings, playwear on the back of the neck, and a finish issue pointed out by a pick (see photo). There are no structural issues with this guitar. It plays and sounds fantastic! It has a Fishman piezo pickup installed. The battery compartment can be seen in the photo next to the serial number. The jack is located in the endpin. I will also include a set of Elixir 12-53 Light strings. 4lb 13oz with battery installed 0.820" at first fret 0.905" at tenth fret (because neck joint won't allow a measurement at the twelfth) Comes with original hardshell Martin case in functioning but used condition. As an OM, wouldn't it have a 1 3/4" nut vs a 000's 1 11/16"? Not familiar with this particular model, but the typical visible differences between an OM and a 000 are the scale length, nut width and pickguard shape, which this one actually has the 000 pickguard.

Good questions. With this being a special run, it is a bit of a mutt with some features pulled from the 000 line and some from the OM line.

So, this guitar does or does not have the 1.75" nut width?

This guitar has a 1.69" (1 11/16") nut width.

This follows the 000-15 model: full scale, narrower nut, full pickguard. That's a really versatile and playable combination in my books. Ive had dozens of guitars but my 000-15 is the perfect all around guitar. This would be the ideal complement to that given the completely different wood makeup, but same size/shape/nut/scale.
Nice price for all that you get. Someone will score! |

It really is a great value. I was shocked when I found that Martin produced a guitar with these specs at this price point (they sell for $2,000 new). I mostly play electric these days and am thinning down to just one acoustic (my Eastman 00), otherwise this would be a real keeper for me. It will surely make the next owner happy. |

I've not played this model but if it sounds anything similar to the several MMV dreads I've played then it will put out some awesome tone.
Nice guitar. |

I've never played, or owned, one of these MMV's that wasn't great. Good luck with your sale.
