Very cool.
A limited series of the A3 and AC3 series.

None of the beauty of the koa you see on Taylors, but still good for $1500.

I wonder if these have the Elixirs and Tusq nut and saddle. I see they ship with a "hard bag" like the new A3s do, so I question where they are made (although Sweetwater clearly says Japan). According to Kraft Music, the nut and saddle are plastic (urea, actually).

I bought a CSF1M with a similar bag. They are nice, but for that price I'd rather have the Deluxe HSC.

My A5R came with a HSC, but not the deluxe arch top one that the A3s used to come with.

Yamaha seems to be cutting corners with cases these days.

Still a very nice guitar.

Again, other than name what makes a Martin any better? For that price, you are looking at HPL Martin's anyways? Tone is subjective

I've never played this series of Yamaha, but I had a Japanese handmade L series, and I liked it more than the HD28, and I had a lot of time with each.
What I don't understand is using a hard wood for the top, and in the description it says that the guitar might start out too trebly, but you have to play it for the sound to open up. Who wants a guitar that you have to play for months, years before it sounds right?
I've never played a Koa topped instrument, and the proof is in the pudding.
It's hard to find high end Yamaha's in the shops. Evidently, most dealers don't find them competitive at the higher price point.

A few years ago, Yamaha made a limited run of these with SRT 63 preamp in it. I had a chance to play one. It sounded good to me. Bright as most others, but a different bass response. Somewhere between the sound of rosewood and mahogany. I was going to buy one, but I'd just got an AC3R. My local dealer had one of each and they both sold within weeks.

The higher end (26, 36, 56) L-series are impossible to find around my parts. I drove to a store in Pittsburgh to check one out, and they didn't have any. Retailers know most people won't spend a couple thousand on a guitar unless it's a _________, __________, or a __________. A motorcycle company can't possibly make a very good guitar to compete with guitar companies.

Yea the Vintage 70's D18 I played couldn't hold a candle to the Yamaha A3M I just sold or even a Blueridge BR243A I tried... Now, of course, the D18 might of been a tonal lemon I don't know but I wasn't impressed
