The Tree is for display cases at guitar shows.

And a few more. Buffing isn't too far off.

The neck profile is based on my Circa OM-30, which is a medium C that I'm particularly fond of (of which I am particularly fond, for you grammar-lovers).

Burton is going to start modifying the tuners so they can be inset into the headstock.

That might be the most insane set of Koa I've ever seen.

How would you describe the stain on that neck? Black?

Burton saw this question before I did and sent me a response preemptively:

He calls the color "blackened oil." It looks black in diffuse light, but in direct light you can see some of the color of the cedar come through. It's meant to coordinate with the African blackwood binding, which has some of the same qualities in diffuse/direct light.

Which just goes to show you . . . there is no detail to subtle for Burton's consideration.

OH MY WORD. I was literally laughing as I read your post because of the level of detail involved here. I LOVE it.

So apparently our builds got mixed up. This is actually my guitar and yours is further in the queue. Burton told me to tell you he's sorry. Gents, I'll be taking this thread over from here.

It's your usb_chord. But you'll have to fight me for it. Bring the Circa and we'll use the guitars like laser swords. May the best man win!

Burton is currently buffing this axe to prepare it for battle.

Well, it's been quite the journey. Almost 6 years since SBAIC. And just like that, the lute bass was completed. The end product is absolutely gorgeous, of course. No surprise there. Burton employed his usual level of unmatched original artistry. I can't wait to play it!

I should mention that Burton sent me CNCed plastic templates to match the neck profile to my favorite Circa. Such is his dedication to getting it EXACTLY right.

The artistry and craftsmanship on display in the rosette alone is simply incredible. I keep coming back to the thread just to stare and drool. What a stunningly beautiful guitar in every aspect from every angle. May it bring you great joy. It has been a long wait.
