Default Largest Audience

What’s the largest number of people you have played in front of in a “fixed venue.”
By that I mean where people aren’t flowing through as at an event for something else like a fair or a town celebrating something.
I was in a “ battle of the bands” at the Dallas Hard Rock Cafe. We played in front of around 1200 give or take. Heckuva’ sound system!

About 800.

Nope, not jazz

And not the toughest crowd, by a longshot!

Edit: forgot, probably about 120 at the Edinburgh Folk Club Songwriting competition. I didn’t win.

I played to what must have been a few thousand passersby in the space of 45 minutes busking in the Royal Mile during the Edinburgh festival. I made £12.

I played a music festival as second to last band. There was no second stage only the main stage. We played at about 11pm till 1am. It was a natural cave amphitheater. I'm guessing there were 4-5k there. I just know they flashed the lights on the crowd and there were glow sticks in the air and people as far as I could see to the crest of the hill. It was awesome.

At a non-festival, maybe 200.

Albert Music Hall in Waretown, NJ seats about 300. That's probably the largest for me.

About 2000.........May 1970. Our group, The Sandy Hill Exchange (folk group) opened for the Sh Na Na in Boston. Super memorable night!
The Sa Na Na's equipment truck broke down, so the guys were there, but no truck!! The crowds started to arrive...........
To pacify the group while waiting (and you could do this legally back then) the promoters offered free beer to keep folks happy while they waited. By the time we went on.....late........everybody is wasted!!! The LAST thing they want to hear is US and they let us know it!! LOL! It was like being thrown to the lions in the coliseum!
We won them over.......worked very hard...........I have a tape of it, so I can re-live all these many years later!!! Quite a "lifetime" highlight....so glad we had it taped ( the Sh Na Na guys were great and helped us with this).

I’ve played at a Christmas tree lighting at a local shopping center. I’m playing there again Saturday. The organizers say there are usually around 3,000 people there.

My friend runs the (Buffalo Music Hall of Fame) best band in town.

He invites me up to play with him once in a while.

This was the biggest crowd for me - I am guessing about 1000. There was about just as many outside the tent as inside.

Wearing my requisite Taylor Road Show shirt

Spring 1970, Brooklyn College/Whitman Auditorium (two weeks after Santana, where the stage pic from the Abraxas album was taken) - solo performance, mostly-hostile audience of 2500+ (can't get into the reasons here), MC apologized profusely after I left the stage; as the old saying goes, whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger...

About 700 people at a festival in Big Sur about 10 years ago. I am a solo performer so it was a bit unnerving.

But ultimately a great time.

I really don't know about the outdoor festivals but the biggest indoor crowd was 3000, which we've done a few times. Our usual crowd is about 1/10th of that. This is with an electric rock band.

As a preacher - 1,200+ over the course of three morning services.
As a poet - 150+ at a large coffee house.
As a guitarist - 5 (if you count the dog).
