Build Thread: Lame Horse Saddle Pal Cedar / Koa

That's awesome! Lame Horse accessories.... I want one!

I like bevels (even slight ones), but having a Saddle Pal myself, it's size doesn't warrant having a bevel (IMHO). This is the perfect compliment to this little gem of a guitar.

I am sure this is known by the OP already but just in case, if they r rare earth magnets they are not suitable for use where the guitarist playing it has a pacemaker.

Thank you! Yes, with this size, a bevel is not absolutely necessary, but I liked the idea so much that I decided I want one. Maybe in 20 years my right arm will be grateful (if I don't have a pacemaker by then haha).

Two more photos. As some of you may know, Chris and Jeremy put a little animal inside every guitar to bring the player good luck. I choose a bear, that is, a strong animal to equilibrate the lame horse of the logo and create a balanced guitar Actually I really like bears. The little guy looks comfortable in there (I'd love to live inside a guitar too):

Yes, I thought he might accompany me when I play the blues, but I will have to teach him to stay quiet during Celtic tunes!

It’s getting closer and closer now. Here another pick. As Chris says, it' just the cedar top in the raw - sanded to 220 grit. However, I think the wood is quite beautiful. I also love how the rosette and the binding go together (wonder how this will look under finish):

The bridge is ready. Chris and Jeremy recommended a Mesquite bridge. This wood has very good mechanical properties, and less than half the weight of Ebony, 14 grams as opposed to 30-40 grams, an important difference on a small bodied guitar. Here it is:

I can definitely recommend a custom order, the process has been a pure joy so far. In other words: do it!

Still patience is required. The guitar is ready to send for finish, but a television show crew, Guitar Hunters, is coming to the Lame Horse shop next week to shoot, so it will stay there a few days longer for the filming.

In the meantime, the Calton case arrived. To keep myself busy:

So your guitar is gonna be on television! It would be great to learn more abut the show in case we can watch it when it comes it comes out.

That Calton looks good too, much smoother than my 2006 model.
