D-18 CW (Clarence White)
Does anyone remember what the MSRP of the D-18CW was back in 2001/2002? Only 292 made. Just curious...thanks.

Only ever played one at Guitar Showcase in San Jose, and was taken aback by its musicality and lively tone. Wonderful.
Don't recall it being cheap or I'd have bought it. |

Wish I could be of more help to you. I'm not sure of the value of the CW but I played a used one about a year ago (I think it was around $3000) and it sounded superb. Since I usually walk past the Martins in a store and toward boutique guitars, I was surprised at how good it sounded. It easily sounded as good as most boutique guitars I've owned or played. Very touch sensitive, warm, and lively. Darn good sounding guitar.

If you haven't already it would be worth a quick call to Martin to ask they have been quite helpful with things like this when I've called in the past. Sometimes they have a record of the original purchaser by serial number too which has some info like that.

They went for $5999 new, so around $3k is probably the sweet spot as a private sale. I've seen them at around that on Reverb.

I think Reverb.com has pricing history/guide on some things. Not sure if they have data for used D18-CW's but if so might be even more useful than MSRP.
Good luck. |
