Default NGD-PRS Studio

I should probably have my head examined but it was just too good to pass up.

Wow very pretty and interesting pic up set, it should really rock with the Supro

I had a Kawasaki 250 Samurai way back when , that I pained with the same color scheme (sans the flamed maple )

It just hit me that these are U of O Ducks colors! I'll be giving this a run-through at rehearsal tonight...fortunately the guys are all Duck fans.

I haven't yet run it through the Supro , but it's killer through my Line 6 DT-50 (through an Avatar 1x12 Celestion V30).

Congrats! I'm not familiar with the Studio model. Is the pair of mini humbuckers always found on it?

Yep...the Studio models have the "narrow-field" pickups in the neck & center and a five position blade switch like a Strat. I'm not sure whether or not the NFs are also 57/08 pickups...their verbiage seems to indicate that they are, but they're not marked as such. Either way, they're great sounding pups, very Strat-like for a 'bucker, with a nice high-end sheen but with a little extra warmth in the low-end.

The 57/08 bridge pickup is absolutely stunning, either as a full 'bucker or tapped for single-coil mode. No level loss at all in tapped mode, just spanky, bright punch, almost like a really good Telecaster. These pickups clean up really nice when backing off on volume...leads me to assume that they have some kind of treble-bleed circuit in there.

I played this for the first time at rehearsal last night, through my Butler Tubeworks TD-752 combo with a 1st gen Line 6 POD in front of it. Oh. My. God. Spectacular tones and versatile in the extreme, ranging from Fender Strat/Tele or roll it off a bit for nice singing Les Paul tones. Superb balance & weight...seriously comfortable to play with a nice neck profile, 25" scale, really smooth & precise vibrato that stays in perfect tune no matter how aggressive I get with it.

Incidentally, I was looking at the PRS site because this guitar unfortunately no longer has the truss rod wrench & spare tuner locking screws...getting set to order these just to have them handy. While there, I found that they now have the 57/08 pickups available for sale! They aint cheap, but man, what a fantastic upgrade to a 'bucker-equipped ax!

I've heard great things about the 57/08 pickups. I know that PRS has recently made some of their pickups available for sale and yep, very pricey. Enjoy your Studio!

Now I have a decision to make...

Pretty sure I'm keeping the green one though.
