Question Toru Fujii?

I ran into a few of these Somogyi Style Modified Dreadnoughts on Reverb built by Japanese builder Toru Fujii. I'm curious anyone have any info on this builder or these instruments? I noticed Dream Guitars represents a Fujii guitars as well but it looks to be a different person with the same last name.

Here's a link to one, I have no connection with the seller.

Bobby, I found this:http://defgabc.livedoor.blog/archives/2004501.html.
The luthier's base price is 500,000 yen, which amounts to about $3350, making that two year old $9980 Reverb listing a bit wacky, unless it is a different builder.

Hi Bobby,
It sure looks like a knock off of Ervin’s peg head, bridge, body and cutaway along with Jason’s rosette. The scalloped nut and saddle are also a knock off of Dan Lashbrook’s original design.

Does not seem to be in that high demand, judging from the lower selling price compared to some other top Japanese luthiers to me.

There are two different Japanese luthiers named Fujii - the orher one is keisuke Fujii who is probably more well known
. I believe that Mighty Fine Guitars uses to carry some guitars made by toru fujii.

I took a chance and bought a Modified Dreadnought from this builder. It’s Red Spruce over South East Asian Rosewood. It was built in 2019. It's a fine guitar. I’ve owned and played several mod D guitars from Kostal, Buendia, Somogyi, Doerr, and Kraut and this one is on par with most of them which is saying a lot. His attention to detail is quite impressive. Mine is serial number 74. I’ll try and post a video of it at some point in the near future. It falls somewhere in between Kraut and Buendia tonally to my ears.

I finally had time to put a video up so you can hear the Fujii Modified Dreadnought in action.

The Fujii I know for sure MFG carried is Kohei. I have one of his and it's fantastic.

As I recall he's a hobby builder with an advanced degree in a difficult field and a day job.
