when I am fingerpicking the first C chord do I strum the 2,3,4,5 strings together or one by one or?

p = thumb and i, m and a are the picking hand fingers.

If you strum them, strum all the indicated strings in one movement.

Just confirming: you're supposed to use thumb and 3 fingers (index-middle-ring) to pick all 4 strings together. Thumb down, fingers up.
