Default mea culpa

Hi guys,

I walked away from the forum. Second time in a year. I had asked your opinions on my practice schedule and was not happy with the response so I left in anger.

https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=514593

But while I was away I did take your advice (Woody Mann's too). I cut my repertoire down to 27 essential songs from 90. I'm spending 1 to 2 hours a night just playing, 6 nights a week. Some nights focused on new material, some nights working on a small chunk of repertoire, some nights a bit of both. In future the repertoire list will stay at 25ish. I'll add new ones and some old ones will drop off the list or maybe some new ones won't even make the list. I'm keeping it fluid and fun. I'm only learning and playing songs I enjoy.

After 2 months I'm much happier. Lots of time for family and fun. The repertoire stress is gone and the pleasure of playing has come flooding back. I thought I would be losing something dropping over 60 songs but no I haven't. In fact I feel liberated. Thanks for the advice guys (and Woody too). I was wrong and you were right.

Hey Doug, glad you're back and hope you'll stay. I don't know about right and wrong... that probably varies from person to person. But I know I always enjoyed your playing and your contributions to the forum. Glad to hear the good news.

Doug,

Let me be one of the first to say welcome back!

Sounds like you have found a way to make it fun again

Looking forward to your continuing contributions, maybe not quite as many as in the past

Thanks Fred. I do plan on recording but only posting if I'm 100% proud of the results.

Good to know you're on the musical mend and getting the joy out in front of you again. I couldn't imagine it becoming anything less than that.
