Ukulele Fever Bit Me
I received my first ukulele September 2017, a Baritone Ukulele. Now, just last week I purchased a Tenor Ukulele, solid Acacia while visiting in Bangkok. Yes, Ukulele Fever has Bit me.

I caught it as well. Seems to afflict crooners looking for the perfect singalong instrument!

The weather is getting nice here, getting very close to the time of the year where I find myself playing a lot more uke than guitar.
It's simply a better instrument for outdoor playing. It's proven, or something. |

I first succumbed back in 2007... got it pretty bad. I've had relapses several times since but for the past month or so, my guitars have been stowed away in their cases while the ukes are getting lots of use.
I'm getting very close to shelling out some $$$ to get a nice mahogany soprano to add to my concert, tenor, and ukulele-ized 17 fret tenor banjo.

Thank you for sharing your dire condition. You'll find much support here as you struggle to find your way in the midst of this challenging time.

Irresistible, aren't they? Perfect companion to the guitar. I prefer the tenor size, but anything will do in a pinch.

I bought a cheap one (Makala) for my 10 year old daughter. I play it more than her. About 10 times more.
Thinking of buying a better one. But I better stop now since this disease is contagious.

Just did that myself. Nothing like a nice little hog soprano!

Saw Ledward a few months ago. He has a new Uke. Beautiful tone and looks to match. I met him at intermission, we talked about it but I was afraid to ask too many questions as it was a custom and probably pricy. I got the impression it was a gift.

I'm amazed at how much easier I find it to sing along while playing ukulele as opposed to singing along while playing a guitar. I'm not sure why this is the case, but it is.

My wife discovered the same thing when she got a bass flute (one octave below her regular silver flute). She found it matched her voice range better, and if she could hum the tune she could noodle around and play the tune by ear without notation. The guitar is two full octaves from open sixth string to open first string (plus some fretted notes above that). The reentrant tuned gCEA uke is less than one octave. If you have a low G string (GCEA) then you get nine notes without fretting anything on the first string. |

It can be done, but the flute tends to sound more like a Kazoo. |
