This guitar has some very old Indian Rosewood for the back and sides, old growth Western Red Cedar top and some very old Honduran Mahogany for the neck and some internal parts. My base price includes a lot of features that are typically only available as upcharges, like the semi-hemispherical fret end dressing, bound fretboard, active lattice braced back, cross grained center back laminate, and much more: The headstock on this guitar has highly figured and spalted Maple and is layed up with a maple laminate/purfling on both the top and the on the Indian Rosewood backstrap. You can see this maple layer under the fretboard as well. The binding, bridge, heel cap, tuner buttons, and fretboard are Black Ebony. Black Buffalo horn bridge pins are used as well as maple purfling all around. The rosette is spalted Maple. Of course a bone nut and saddle are standard. These are the kinds of things I plan to talk about at the show. I should mention that a sound port comes standard on the Josie small jumbo Model.

That Ovangkol/Engelman Josie small jumbo is breathtaking. Can't wait to see your beautiful guitars in Woodstock.

That is nothing that I would consider "base". Another beauty. This is going to be a dangerous show. Bringing along a cousin, he's looking for something. I hope he falls in love with this. Kind of like having a friend with a boat, he buys it, I get to play it!

Thanks magirus, I think most people love the basic look and shape of guitars. It doesn't take much to say a lot with a guitar.

Thanks for commenting DamianL, It's easy to love the look of a good strait grained guitar without all the whistles and bells. My problem is I love all of them one way or another. I'm lucky I can do this for a living!

All set for the show!
I'm all set for Woodstock. I spent this morning polishing up the four guitars for the show. I never have this many guitars in the studio at any given time so it was a fun opportunity to play and compare them.
I want to show some variety at this exhibition which I hope shows some range of what I do. Here are the headstocks: I am also a big fan of alternative woods for necks: This is New Hampshire local Sugar Maple (Hard Maple), Koa, Eastern Black Walnut, and Honduras Mahogany. You can tell I have a preference for satin finished necks! See you at the show! Mark

Stunning. I've never seen you do an inverse pillow headstock before--is that new? It's a nice variation, and gives your clients even more options to choose from. As do I! |

That was a new twist on that headstock that I used for the Unlimited Series Penelope model. My favorite part about having a concave top is it presented the opportunity to turn up the end in a natural way. No one notices it unless it's pointed out which is the kind of charmingly natural detail work I love to do. Here are a couple pictures that show what I'm talking about. The first one was in the build process where that turned up end is more evident: Thanks justonwo! Thank you Diamondave!
