Steve picked a wonderful piece of African Blackwood for the bridge which I think matches the fretboard perfectly. This ties in nicely with the ebony binding. I'm really excited seeing all this start to come together

I agree with everything you said there Dave. Looks great.

Dumb question for Ryan. Looks like you are free handing the fret board cut on a band saw. I would have thought you would use a table saw so the fence could ensure the width. Is it because there is a taper to the fret board that makes you cut it that way?

Exactly Tom. We could (many builders do) make a jig to cut the taper on a table saw. But, we rough cut on the bandsaw and then clean up on a wide belt sander.

I have never had or played a guitar with a Sinker Redwood top so I'm very excited about this combination. I've had, and have several guitars with Cedar tops and I love the combination of Cedar/Rosewood. I'm hoping this has some of the characteristics of Cedar but with a little more sparkle. Heading down the home stretch and I couldn't be more pleased with how this guitar is coming together, every element they add enhances the overall appeal in my eyes. Well done Steve and Ryan!!

I have not had a sinker redwood, but now have a couple redwoods and played several others and I have to say, I think it is now my favorite topwood. Seems to add a very shimmery sound to the trebles, still has good bass and just seems to be perfect to my ears. I will venture to say you will be pleased as punch with this when done.

We love redwood. We’re sure you will too.

Drilling holes in a perfectly good peghead.

Bound peghead with the requested double white purfling lines.

Planing the neck to thickness on a funny looking planer.

Fitting a neck.

And from another angle.

More soon.

Thank you, Paul! It will be fun meeting you as well. Bring one of my brother's guitars, ok?

Thanks much, David. Turning your crank is preferable to twisting your arm, or pulling your leg, so we're honored!

Smile Yes indeed

Yes, Steve! I will be bringing John's latest of his three customs I have so far...
One more coming but it will not be done by then.

I am hoping to have you and Ryan play it to your hearts content. My goal is to pick up a boat load of high end AGF DNA on this trip! Haha

You guys sure make pretty instruments!

Cheers

Paul

Ha, that's true Steve, on both counts, even the clams I think the only original thing that has not changed with this build is the 00 size. That's part of what makes this so enjoyable, its an adventure for sure.

Continuing on, here’s some shots before the finish gets applied.

First off is fitting the African Blackwood bridge to the body by sanding the under side of the bridge to match the dome of the top.

Next is taping off the bridge and the fretboard extension where we don’t want the lacquer to be ultimately.

Then we inlaid some nice blue paua diamonds and squares in the fretboard.

And on top of that we put in some gold EVO fretwire.

Thanks for watching.
