McNally Guitars - First 4x guitars of 2019

Hi,
I thought i would share some photos of my first 4x builds of this 2019.
They will all be Cedar Tops with...
-Indian Rosewood
-Mahogany-
-Walnut
-3 Piece Green Ebony

I'm thinking of changing my bridge design on these guitars, and may consult with the AGF members on that at some point soon. You can be my focus group!

I also think the Green ebony guitar in this batch may become my first sunburst.

I'm currently closing the 4x soundboxes while machining neck blanks in the background.
All four of these guitars will have figured maple bindings.
As well as the sunburst I'll also be making 2x of the guitars with Gloss finish (satin necks) and the other 2x full satin finish.

That green ebony is nice looking wood, but doesn't look especially green on my screen. Does it look more green in real life or is that just a species or variety name?

Hi Stan, you might see more Green in the following photos, particular the sides. 'Green Ebony' is more of a common name for this particular species...

First, welcome to the forum and thank you for sharing your builds. I had a question. Do you typically batch build as you are here or is this a unique thing for you?

I do mix of single instrument building and batch building where I can.
It really depends on the instruments.
For instance my next guitars after these will be a batch of just 2 which share some common features. They’ll be a bit more complex so thats why only two on that batch.
Even in small batches it’s possible to run some guitars along side each other except where they may diverge due to different specifications.

I have also had some batches of 4 with very different specs and there is still a benefit in my mind to making them together.

To be honest working in batches also just suits my mindset, and I find I make better quality guitars this way so I’m happy to be quite open with people regarding this way of making guitars.
I also think it’s the best way to continue learning. Having the ability to compare, methods, repetition and results etc.

I can see the green just fine now. That's a fine looking batch of guitars, but my favorite (so far) is the green ebony.
