Default My Dear Friend Fred/Pedal Steel Content

Of the 298 pedal steel guitars Fred Justice hand built prior to his retirement, this example below is a one of one edition. There will never be another tri-color steel(turquoise and pearl white oyster with a black satin top)with matching front and rear aprons, a very rare “fat back” non cut away rear apron, four foot pedals(#1 being Fred’s special “booyah” pedal)and five knee levers.

Perfect in every way, hand signed underneath by Mr. Justice himself, with a very special dedication to me.

We speak a few times a year now, not as much as I would like, but every time is special. I am honored to call you my friend, Fred. This guitar will remain in my family forever, and the story of the build, included in the case, will remain there forever also.
Thank you again for such a beautiful instrument Fred!
Build date November 10, 2013.

Thank you Reeve.
It resides in St. Louie now with my son and his family. Just before COVID hit last year he was getting a lot of work with it. He said most times people didn’t know what to make of it. The best was when someone asked if it was some kind of organ!

I had an EMCI for the two years I couldn't play guitar. Hardest instrument to play well I've tried. But man, can I palm block now.

Yes that is the truth. It’s funny that you mention “when you couldn’t play guitar”. I got my steel after an accident that left me disabled in my left hand. Couldn’t play guitar, but could hold a steel. It took three years to be able to use my hand at about 80%. So now I’m just a hack strummer, but that’s better than nothing!
