For me the Holy Grail would be a parlor-sized guitar that had the depth, volume and tone of a Martin D-18.

Of course, that's not going to happen.

Your D41 looks fantastic, Tnfiddler! I'm sure it sounds fantastic, too!

Thank you so much!! I’ve actually got it out right now and it still blows my mind every time I play it! Especially with these DR Veritas strings on it!

I have had mine for a long time - a 1942 Gibson J50. In as long as I have owned it I have played no slope shoulder guitar I have liked better or would trade mine away for. When the second generation luthier (who the Martin guys have called "Doc") got it back in playing condition, he handed it back to me with the words "never let it out of your hands." Every time I open the case and hit a big fat open chord my mouth still drops open in a silent "Whoa!"

Hard to say if it’s my holy grail or not but my new to me Breedlove is here to stay. It has “the sound” i’ve always had in my mind

I like the guitars I have just fine, but I think it would be cool do have decent 1950’s J-45 (or SJ) or J-50. They really sound great and I love the looks of them. The J-50’s are also fairly affordable as far as vintage guitars go. “Affordable” being a relative term, of course.

My Holy Grail is to collect most of the iconic acoustics (I don’t care about 12 strings or resonators). Other than a J-200 and a grand auditorium, I think I’m almost there. With that said, my J-45 was the one I wanted since I was a kid.

Default The Holy Grail

Having a Greven PS and Greven 000, my Grail quest is about over. However, the two guitars that haunt me to this day are a 1929 Martin 000-28 I played several years ago and a Claxton EM, Adi/hog owned by a friend in Austin.

There's a Triggs Master 400 cutaway somewhere out there that I didn't have the $7100 for, when MandoBros had it in the high-end room in the early 2K's...

I wanted a D-35 ever since high school. It took me 40+ years to finally end up with one. And man, was that a happy day!

Will I buy more guitars? Sure, but no matter what, my plain ol’ D-35 will always be my “holy grail”.

My M-36 is all the guitar I will ever need. Some days I hear it make sounds ala McCartney or Neil Young.
