Default 1939 Gibson HG-00 (SOLD)

Up for sale is one of the most haunting guitars I’ve played: A 1939 Gibson HG-00 that has been given the common Hawaiian-Spanish conversion. It is very similar to an L-00, except the neck joins the body at the 12th fret instead of the 14th. Here’s the demo video:

https://youtu.be/gXR0PldIf3A

I played this at a local store recently and was blown away. This guitar sounds massive, deep, and beautiful; for lack of a better term, its “woodiness” is turned up to 11. As you can see in the photos, it has been played in significantly, which I’m sure contributes mightily to its amazing sound!

This old HG-00 recently received a neck reset and setup by Glaser Instruments here in Nashville. Aside from the saddle, I believe it is all original – even the tuners, with their unique amber buttons. There are tons of bumps and scratches all over the guitar, including multiple cleated and repaired top and back cracks. However, thanks to the recent attention from Glaser, it is structurally in good shape. A strap button has been installed on the heel, and one of the tuners is slightly bent. It is worth noting that the neck is big and hefty on this guitar, as are the nut width (a hair past 1 ⅞”) and spacing at the saddle (2 11/32”).

Asking $SOLD plus shipping for this fantastic prewar Gibson! Comes in non-original hardshell case.

Have one of these or I would be on it. Haunting, woody, responsive, it plays almost anything from rag to blues to jazz. The demo does it justice. GLWS.

Thank you guys! This HG just sold. I heard that it held its own in a jam session with much larger-bodied instruments!
