You already have a Halcyon so you already know this, but you're in for a treat. I had an OM in Lutz/Mahogany and it was a fun, LOUD, responsive guitar. I had to cull the herd a bit, but I'll definitely be getting one of Ed's guitars again in the future.

A bit off topic, but since Ed seems to be following this thread I'll just ask - have you been getting any orders for Tinkers? I love all the Halcyon build threads but I'd be even more excited to see the process/end result of an all-out Tinker guitar.

They're all a bit different from model to model. This is our standard OM layout...

Yeah I've heard of the pickup being damaged because even though the transducers fit, the ball-ends of the strings were impacting them, so probably a good call to work around them as much as possible (but hey what do I know).

As for the pictures, I feel like we've been getting a lot of pictures of Halcyons actually! I find it interesting that we're seeing several sitka models; for a while there it was all lutz all the time and the sitka provides an interesting contrast. It looks... woodier? somehow? How are they sounding? I'm especially interested in the sitka/mahogany/rosewood dreadnought you just finished. I'm curious what a "base model" Halcyon sounds like, and the Martin D-18 is one of my desert island guitars

Come by for a strum if you like, though it ships out real soon...

MBE, there is one in the works. Well, in the planning stages anyway...

Cool. I'm out of town right now so will probably miss it. Next week I was thinking I should drop off the preamp along with the required stereo cable and some batteries so that you can test out the pickup while you're installing it; if it's still there then maybe I'll take you up on that.

Default Moar pics

I'm currently bored and sitting in an airport waiting for a delayed flight. What better time to share more pictures?

A couple pics of the box, now in an intact state:

Can't wait to see that back with finish on it. That brown will really come alive! Here's the fingerboard, which is already pretty alive:

I love the green streaks. Plain black ebony is so boring

The figured ebony is definitely much nicer - I think it adds character to the guitar. I'm hoping Ed has a nice piece of figured ebony for mine.

Looks like it won't be much longer till yours is ready.. Going to have another one built or taking a break after this?

Not until I land that record deal

If somehow I'm ever placed in an implausible "you have to spend this money pronto or the girl gets it" situation, I would immediately place an order for a Halcyon lutz/padauk HD28-style dreadnought -- maybe even a Tinker. I saw and heard one that Ed built for another customer and it was just awesome. I already have a Martin DM that I love but if that ever got stolen, I'd take the insurance money and put it down on a Halcyon sitka (or lutz) and mahogany D18-style dreadnought. I'd also be keen to see what Ed could do for a 12-string.

Looks like this build is rounding the home stretch! Here's a picture Ed posted on Facebook earlier today:

(the one in the front)

I'm pretty excited. It looks amazing! The one in the back (looks like an NL-OO?) looks pretty sweet too -- is that anyone here's guitar?

That is a NL OO, just a wee bit thinner than normal per request.

Sorry the photos have been a bit sparse...

Have you ever made any guitars with a cedar soundboard?

I think it'd be a really good match for the padauk you have in stock.
