1964 Gibson J-45
Up for sale is a classic 1964 Gibson J-45! Here’s the demo video:
https://youtu.be/nr3HCEAouYI This old workhorse features an original cherryburst that has faded considerably, so it looks more like what some call an “iced tea” burst. The Kluson Deluxe tuners and batwing pickguard are original, and the guitar sounds awesome! It has the hollow Gibson jumbo tone that records so well. It is very balanced and even with an old, dry mahogany resonance. I recently had luthier Jack Dillen perform a refret and install a new nut. He also fashioned a new Brazilian Rosewood bridge (to replace the original plastic bridge) and installed a bone saddle, which improved the volume and sustain pretty noticeably. Jack also replaced the bridgeplate with a piece of (period-correct) maple. Although there is quite a bit of surface wear on the top and sides, there are no cracks on those parts. However, there are several repaired back cracks. The neck angle is excellent and playability is perfect thanks to the refret! The nut width is right about 1 10/16”. Asking $3,800 plus shipping. Comes in older black hardshell case, although I don’t believe it’s the original. |

It's apparent within 5 seconds of listening to the video that it is a fabulous sounding instrument!
Some strummer with skinny fingers is going to be getting their forever guitar, seriously. Best of luck with the sale, Forest! Howard Emerson

Thank you Howard! It is a really cool guitar. I love the faded cherryburst on it too!
