Default Are You Compulsive or a slob?

Okay that's a little over the top.

Are you the person that dumps out the left over coffee in the sink and leaves it or do you rinse it out?

I am the neat freak living in a house with three others who are definitely not. I am the Felix to their Oscarisms. I've learned to look past it with love.

I’m neat, like things in their place, don’t like clutter, but not a freak (or OCD) about it. My wife is as well, but a little lesser so.

As for your coffee example, we both remove and dump the used filter in green recycling, wash the plastic filter container and carafe and cleanup after each daily use. Neat, but not freaky so.

I'm in between. My place is honestly a bit cluttered, but everything is organized. I don't have random stuff all over the place.

I do need to sell some things however.

I am not compulsive, but I am not a slob, either. I grew up in a very large family and in order to avoid mass chaos, we were required to pick up after ourselves. I also need organization to work effectively, and chaos drives me crazy. However, I am not a neat freak, either.

I am middle-of-the-road. My wife agrees.

I would rinse the sink and maybe scour it but I only restring my guitars once a year, so I guess I have multiple personalities.

Do I really have to be the first to admit that I fall short of being compulsively neat???

I'm not obcessive, but I keep things picked up and cleaned up. I probably wouldn't rinse my coffee cup, but I won't leave the empty cup on the table and more likely as not it will go into the dishwasher. I don't leave my clothes laying on the floor and I make my bed. Dirty dishes get washed, at least before I start dirtying more. As far as being organized, out of sight out of mind. You will find my cupboards and closets clean but random. Socks and hankies can go in any drawer that is open.

Tended heavily toward the obsessive side of the spectrum in my younger years.

I've had to lower my standards significantly due to caring for my parents.

I rinse coffee and other stuff out of the sink.

I am rather compulsive about some things (laundry, dishes), pretty lax about others (I have a habit of being slow with the processing mail, and tend to have pikes of mail on my desk and the floor next to my desk). My dear wife has done an admirable job of accepting my vexing blend.

I’m by no means a neat freak (ask my wife ) but there are some things that make me wonder if I have a touch of OCD*.

1) Pictures on the wall which aren’t level have to be fixed. I often find that my own internal level is off, which is a tad disconcerting, though
2) Disruptions to normal have to be righted ASAP. After the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989, my first thought was to pick up all the stuff on the floor, close the open cabinet doors, and get it all back where it belonged. Many other examples since.
3) I like things like LPs, CDs, DVDs sorted properly - but I do not sort my socks or underwear. Books can go anywhere on the shelves - I just know where they are.
4) Throwing away fresh air drives me nuts. If you break down the Kleenex box first, it takes up way less room in the trash.

On the other hand, I haven’t had a haircut in 4 months, can’t be bothered to shave every once in a while, and am in constant catch-up mode with my fingernails.

And, I can make any set of guitar strings last at least a month longer than they should.

*No disrespect intended toward anyone who genuinely suffers from this disorder.

Both. Marriage has improved me, though.

Huh! I don't drink coffee ( can't since my throat cancer) but never allow bad stuff down the drain as we have had drainage issues in the past.

The kitchen sink is a brushed aluminum unit and it is a precious thing to my wife who will not allow it to be less than perfect.

I respect that.

The only untidy places in my house are my office and my workshop.
